The Cotswolds Distillery was founded in 2014, producing a number of award-winning spirits including whisky, gin and rum. Having initially expanded regionally, we have now pushed nationally and internationally to bring our brand to an ever-growing number of enthusiastic consumers.
We are a growing business and team, well positioned to grow strongly in the coming years and are looking to recruit a Distillery Manager to manage all key production aspects of our distillery.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for liquid supply annual, quarterly and monthly production planning, as well as weekly scheduling needs through an understanding of the demands dictated by the Planning function
- You will be responsible for the oversight of all raw materials ordering related to whisky production to ensure production can continue without supply interruptions
- You will be responsible for multi-site operations within production and warehousing
- You will be responsible for the delivery of the QMS, Health, Safety & Environmental and HMRC compliance
- You will be responsible for Cost, Efficiency, Energy, Yield, Volume, Water, Effluent, Carbon targets for the Distillery Production
- You will be responsible for driving CI across all whisky production sites
- You will be responsible for ensuring all production activities remain on time and within budget
- You will coordinate & collaborate with all production departments around delivering & managing regulatory bodies
- You will take the lead in ensuring delivery of production operations, process management, improvement, spirit trials, supplier conformity and problem-solving related to whisky production
- You will be responsible to cover compliance and maintenance repair projects from day-today running of systems to initiation and closure of stand-alone projects as related to all whisky production facilities
- You will set goals & objectives for the whisky production team whilst managing performance and reviews, Including leading weekly team meetings
- You will ensure all company & regulatory compliance are adhered to during the manufacturing process
- You will manage the production of new make malt spirit, and provide managerial and, where necessary operational, cover for new make whisky and rum spirit and gin production
- Oversee regular stock counts of liquid and raw materials
- Technical/engineering responsibility for all whisky production and distilling equipment and systems. All equipment must be operational, safe, and well maintained regularly in line with agreed preventative maintenance schedules. Reactive maintenance and repairs as necessary
- Research into new equipment and ways to become more sustainable
- The above is not exhaustive as additional ad-hoc tasks may be required to meet the needs of the business. At busy times of year (Q4 in particular) it will be necessary to work weekend and evening shifts
Special Requirements:
- You will come from a Malt Distilling or Process Plant background
- You will bring strong leadership & management experience with the ability to lead, coach, train and develop and manage teams
- You will be Degree qualified or equivalent qualification/experience in a Production or Engineering discipline
- You must be able to display a strategic vision
- You will be a strong problem solver and decision maker
- Strong IT skills are essential
- Comprehensive product knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, time management skills and self-motivation
- Forklift license and experience using warehouse equipment
- Expert knowledge of HACCP and SALSA/BRC standards, HMRC regulations and HSE standards required
