The role in brief: This role manages and oversees all bottling related activity on site, from the receiving of dry goods through to the dispatch of finished products and all associated activities in between.

Reports to: Director of Production.

Works closely with: Director of Production, Production Manager, Operational Assistant, Office Administration Manager and the Logistics Co-ordinator.

Person spec:

  • An experienced people manager with a technical background in bottling and scotch whisky.
  • An ability to organise teams, prioritise tasks and implement short, medium and long-term planning is essential.
  • Able to focus on their own continuous professional development, as well as that of their staff members, and an ability to performance manage effectively.

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Manage all bottling-related activities on site from the procurement and delivery of dry goods, the operational bottling activity in the company bottling hall, to the storing and dispatching of finished goods to help meet the business goals.
  • Conduct annual competency framework reviews for all staff members to ensure their career aspirations can be understood and (if compatible with the business’s goals) enacted, whilst also identifying areas of development.
  • Work with the Operations assistant to ensure all activities related to bottling have up to date and fit for purpose Standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all bottling-related activity complies with the legal requirements of bodies such as HMRC, the HSE, SEPA etc.
  • Construct and maintain a bottling schedule in line with business needs and ensure it is adhered to.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors when on site to ensure the installation of new equipment or maintenance of existing equipment, is conducted to the company's satisfaction and in an acceptable safe manner.
  • Ensure an accurate record of staff working patterns are kept and maintained, and complete all relevant staff return to work, absence and disciplinary procedures and associated paperwork.
  • Assist with all HMRC-related activity such as ensuring accurate record keeping of operations, facilitation of inspector for the Spirit Drinks Verification Scheme renewals etc.
  • Facilitate company programmes such as the Whisky School and Internships by making sure all participants are adequately trained and issued with the appropriate PPE to allow them to engage in bottling-related activities.
  • Identify and manage underperformance via the Performance Improvement Plan, working with the Operations Assistant to make sure appropriate and practical support measures are put in place.
  • Reporting of all breaches of on-site Health and Safety to the Director of Production.

 

General responsibilities:
